Ensemble 360 concerts…

This week I am touring the UK with my wonderful friends in Ensemble 360, with concerts in Milton Keynes, Bowness on Windermere, Wiltshire and Sheffield. The programme brings together film, music and industry to celebrate two centenaries that have markedly changed Britain’s cultural and economical landscape: the birth of Benjamin Britten and the discovery of stainless steel in Sheffield, where the ensemble holds a residency with Music in the Round. Ensemble 360 have commissioned two pieces to be performed in the programme; a newly commissioned score written by Associate Composer, Charlie Piper, to some of the BFI’s (British Film Institute’s) recently restored archive film about the stainless steel industry and its process of production, as well as a newly commissioned film in response to Britten’s Six Metamorphoses after Ovid, by film maker Katie Goodwin. Alongside these new works we are performing Britten’s Sinfonietta, which he wrote when he was just 18 years old!… At each venue we are also giving introductory, educational musical performances of Paul Rissmann’s brand new, irresistible piece of music based on the book ‘Stan and Mabel’, which was written and illustrated by Jason Chapman.
